Married on a New Moon and Still Clueless

Married on a New Moon and Still Clueless

Kaylaa + Landon Wedding Day

My Wedding Day

Me on my wedding day
Summon the video, if you dare
Got married this year
A couple of months ago
It was quite memorable
Reminiscent of starbursts
To say the least
It tantalized and embraced the beast
In all of us

It was the start of a new moon
April 18
Fetching fanfare
Family and friends to celebrate
Our wicked laughter
Love we deeply stake
And gesticulate
New beginnings

Discerned how to be a super-duper girlfriend
From being a mixture of reality and fun
That defines my personality
An assortment of a great
And imperfect gal
With a klutz tendency
Yes, I got some help
From having a good man
A love partner, who is a real pal
For the most quarters and peaks
Being present with me as we dance
Through unforgettable times and avalanches

So we prepared without reckoning
Interlaced a colossal of sentimental
And meaningful moments
To share and congregate our thoughts
In the spoken vows
Leaving memories
In the hearts and taste buds
Of our loved ones as we broke bread
That lingered even after we traipsed
From end to end, enjoying our honeymoon in Spain
Reluctantly meandering back to earth again
For we had all the answers in that moment
And I knew all the plans.

Married on a New Moon and Still Clueless

Married on a New Moon and Still Clueless

Staring out into the in between moments
I sit, not quite cross-legged
Nattering at length with Uncertainty
Of this new together life
Trying to capture a piece of that day’s epitome
A glimmer of the new moon
Where everything was both ethereal and sure
Wondering how to even be a WIFE
Albeit a great one
But have come to terms and accepted
I have not a clue.

Come with me honey
Our heart full
Our spirit fed
Let me cast off my ignorance
Help me in all the ways
You can muster
With your patience
Take my hand once more
I am ready to learn
This new cultivation.

Loved the poem! I think you hit on the key to being a great wife when you said you didn’t have a clue. Sometimes things need to evolve naturally. Perhaps the beginning steps of marriage are like that that? There is no plan for being a great husband or wife. You’re just in this together finding your way together day by day. Combine that with a healthy dose of unconditional love and I think you will be just fine. It was a beautiful wedding, at a beautiful location. I have always had an affinity for outdoor weddings.
